Things to Do

The afterschool Arabic program

You are, as always, very welcome to join as parents although the lessons will primarily be aimed at secondary school children.  There will be three lessons as follows:

Mondays:  Beginners' class.

Tuesdays:  All those who were in last year's beginners' class;  newcomers who have some knowledge of the Arabic script are welcome to join.

Thursdays:  All those who were in last year's Thursday class;  newcomers who have a good grasp of the script and a working knowledge of basic spoken Arabic are welcome to join.

This is an opportunity for your children to explore a completely different language and culture.  Arabic is a fascinating language which is growing increasingly important.  It could open career opportunities in many areas such as tourism, aid work, social work, finance and diplomacy.  The school currently has four students studying Arabic at university.

The lessons cost £35 per term.  Cheques should be made out "The European School" and handed into the Reception.  Proceeds from the lessons will go to supporting the school trips.

If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with me via Reception.  Regards, John Macfarlane
