Déjeuner Français and Deutsche Mittagspause
what?
At the beginning of November 2005, we re-started our "Déjeuner français" and "Mittagspause". Several German and French speaking mothers are now running a little group of children for the "Deutsche Mittagspause" and "Dejeuner Francais". We find the children very motivated, enthusiastic and eager to speak and exchange conversation in their second language. The purpose of this project is to allow the children to enjoy practising and hearing their second language without too many formalities or constraints
When?
These lunches take place every Wednesday lunch time (between 12.00 and 12.30). The 5th year primary pupils (EP5) meet in small groups (4 children and 1 parent/group) to speak French or German in an informal atmosphere. .
How?
During these lunches, parents use short games, stories, or any other kind of resources that stimulate the children to speak and understand the culture of the second language they choose. For example, just before Christmas, we offered the children some traditional German and French food to celebrate Christmas.
